Day 6

November 25, 2007

95.3 kgs

This challenge is a real roller coaster. One day you are down .4kgs, then next day you are right back up! Yesterday morning I was down to 94.9kgs. Today and I am back up to 95.3kgs. It is weird! Yesterday was a pretty hard day work wise, and although I ate all the right stuff, there was a long delay between meals, and I didn’t eat my dinner until after 9pm. I went to a fish restaurant, and when the girl came around with the specials she said they had a sirloin steak special, so I went with that. It was awesome, and probably assisted in my .4kg increase this morning. I did have a good workout on the Power Plate yesterday, and today I will have a day away from the Power Plate. Hopefully tomorrows “weigh in” will be better than todays.

Day 5 – Another Power Plate workout

November 24, 2007

Another day, another Power Plate workout. I did a good workout on the power plate this morning.

Started off with hamstring stretch, followed by squats, lunges, calfs, abdominal crunch, deep squat, shoulder press, biceps curl and finally push ups. In total, ten minutes of exercise and I feel a bit tired!

This morning I had a change of breakfast, and had some scrambled eggs in a pita bread. That’s it for now!

Day 3 – More Power Plate

November 22, 2007

This afternoon I was sitting in my home office/gym room. The Power Plate was behind me, and after getting a bit frustrated with some customers, I decided to take a five minute break and do some more “Power Plating”.

I did some upper body work. Just three exercises; Bicep Curl, Press Up and Shoulder Press. Five minutes later I felt much better and went back to work.

For dinner, I had another chicken stir fry. It was good. Not as nice as yesterdays, but ok.

Tomorrow I have to visit some customers, and then go out for a dinner with some colleagues, so my eating pattern will change. I will try to stick to my new eating regime as much as possible, but I think Saturdays “weigh in” may be my first stumbling block. Hopefully not though!

Day 3 – First Power Plate Workout

November 22, 2007

My first power plate workout is complete, and I must say I am impressed. I was a little skeptical after the first couple of exercises, but after I did the abdominal crunch I broke into a sweat.

Here are the exercies I did:

  • Hamstring Stretch
  • Calf Stretch, 1 minute on each leg
  • Squat
  • Lunges, 1 minute on each leg
  • Caves
  • Abdominal Crunch
  • Lower Abs
  • Deep Squat
  • Hamstring Massage, 1 minute on each leg

Twelve minutes of exercises, spread over about 35 minutes because I took a couple of phone calls in between. And I drank two litres of water during it!

Tomorrow I am going to work on arms and upper body. Now it is time for a snack!

Day 3

November 22, 2007

95.2kgs

Another day, another weigh in. This morning, I am down another .2kgs, to 95.2. I was hoping for a little more, but I think I have to be happy with that, considering it was based purely on a change in diet.

Last night I watched the Power Plate DVD and today I am going to do my first Power Plate workout. I am going to meet the people at Power Plate to work out a training schedule later in the week, but for now I am just going to do 10 exercises, each for one minute each. I haven’t decided which exercies yet, but as soon as I do, I will pop them up here.

Day 2 – Power Plate Arrives!

November 21, 2007

The Power Plate has arrived. I was expecting it at 3pm, but I got a call from the delivery guy at 1:30 to say he was on his way. At 2pm it arrived, and I have unboxed it and set it up.

I haven’t watched the DVD yet that explains how to use it. I will watch that this evening when I get back home.

Day 2 – My First Comment and the Power Plate is on its way!

November 21, 2007

I got my first comment on my blog this morning, which was pretty cool! Thanks Dane.

Then five minutes ago I got a phone call from the guys at Power Plate to say they are going to deliver my Power Plate to me today at 3pm. I can’t wait. Today is going to be a good day!

100 Days to Lose 16kgs – Thats the Challenge!

November 19, 2007

I am a 28 years old man, and recently realised that my fitness levels have deteorated. Two weeks ago, I went to a wedding. I bought a new suit for the wedding, and to my disbelief, my trousers had a 38 inch waste. The week before the wedding I was at a friends house and when I was in the bathroom I stepped onto the weighing scales. Again to my disbelief, I nearly touched 100kgs. I was 99kgs and had a 38 inch waste. Uh oh, time to do something about this.

Since the wedding, I have changed my diet. I have cut out most of my junk food, but still allow myself the odd indulgence. My aim is to drop to 80kgs within the next 100 days.

Today I bought myself a weighing scales, and my current weight is 96.4 kgs. My balanced diet has already started to pay dividents. Down 3kgs!

Due to work, and study commitments, I am not in a position to go to the gym. I used to go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week to take classes, and really enjoyed it. I haven’t been to the gym for over a year, but I never cancelled my membership, so I have paid them nearly €1,000 without actually entering the place! I am going to phone them in the morning and cancel my membership.

Power Plate My3At the weekend I ordered a Power Plate. It is due to arrive later this week. The Power Plate is an exercise machine that consists of a vibrating platform you stand on and do light stretches and squats on. You can use it as little as three times per week. The company that produce the Power Plate claim that a 15 minute session on the Power Plate is equivalent to a 60 minute workout at the gym. I had read about the Power Plate in the past, but on Saturday I saw it in a store and gave it a go. It was pretty good. I didn’t buy it there and then, but on Sunday after doing some more research into it, I decided to purchase the entry level My3 Power Plate. It costs €2,000, which is a considerable amount, but if it helps me to achieve my goal, it will be worth it.

The Power Plate alone will not get me to my goal, but my new balanced diet, a regular cardio workout and the Power Plate will hopefully get me to get me to my goal.

I intend to have daily updates on this blog and I am using it as an incentive to get me to my target of 80kgs.

Well, 100 days and 16.4kgs to go, thats it from me for today.
